SINGAPORE’S ANSWER TO THE EDEN PROJECT
Today started a little uncertain for us. Simon’s leg and foot was aching and so was another day of a lot of walking going to be a good idea????…. Probably not. That said we could not possibly make such a life …I mean day… changing decision be made on empty stomachs. There is an extensive buffet breakfast on offer at our hotel so we headed down there for some sustenance to start our day. Within 10 minutes of starting our breakfast a large storm arrived to say hello. Torrential rain followed for the next 3 hours. That gave us plenty of time to decide what to and to get our blog up to date.
The coffee at a local cafe, Humble Origins, we decided needed to be tested. It did not disappoint, and so on a caffeine high we decided to see what the Singapore train system was like.
We ended up at Gardens by the Bay. It was a short 10 minute hobble for moon boot man from the train station. The place is huge, with outdoor landscaped gardens to walk through as well as 3 massive domes full of flora and different themes. We decided on the Cloud Forest which happened to have a Jurassic theme going on. It was all very well done and the range of plants was simply amazing. We do plan to return in the future to see the other domes and stay into the evening to experience the light shows and the gardens lit up which is said to be a wonderful sight to see.
We are, however, taking it easy and choosing carefully what is possible without putting too much strain on a healing foot. We are slowing our pace and stopping to smell the roses along the way.
