After a short 2 hour bus ride from Krakow we were in Zakopane! Our apartment was stunning which was a nice change from our budget hotels. We first set out to explore the town and found some amazing shops and it was snowing like crazy! We found a little bar where the bartender let us try some vodka that was made locally! Weirdly it was very nice but not much like vodka at all.
There were lots of sleigh rides and sledding which was great to see. We also made our way to the thermal baths where the water was 36 degrees and it was snowing outside!! We had cocktails in the pool and enjoyed the time just to relax. We also went into the sauna and accidentally attended a “ceremony” which consisted of Ed Sheeran being blasted. The people making the sauna hotter and hotter and waving scented towels around in a sort of show. It was quite cool in the end. And then they picked up snow and put it on us!!! That was a shock to the system. Afterwards we went back to the pool for some more drinks before heading back home for and early dinner and yes…more drinks before setting off early the next day. Which let us in for a much more than we anticipated…..
