Zakopane to Vienna - The train journey of nightmares!!!

We set out early (5:30am) to catch the bus from Zakopane to Krakow as we had a 10am train to Vienna. After getting to the train station we were informed of a 98 minute delay. Overall not too bad considering this was some of the biggest snow they’d seen in 5 years! After the 98 minute delay it was smooth sailing… or so it seemed. The train routinely stopped somewhere in Czech and all of a sudden a lady got on and started saying in another language that we all needed to get off as the train was not going any further and to find our connecting train. After getting to the platform we were informed all the connecting trains had already left and to go speak to someone about another ticket. Luckily for us we had the eurail pass which made rebooking much easier. All was well until our train got delayed 220 minutes. By this point we had made some friends from America, Australia and Austria. Most of which were going different directions. We orginally made the plan to get to Bratislava in Slovakia, which was close the the border so worst come to worst we would be able to get a taxi for the rest of the way. This journey started to seem a bit too difficult for the ever changing delays of trains. So we got a 10 minutes train to Ostrava and waited for the original train. Finally a train came (not the original) and we made it to Vienna 8 hours later than anticipated and made some friends along the way. Safe to say we were very glad to finally get to our hotel in Vienna. Oh and that original train ended up getting delayed another 3 hours on top of the original 3.5
