Berlin - “A Very festive atmosphere.”
With snow on my hat - Christmas Market: Bebelplatz, Berlin, Germany
Checkpoint Charlie.
Berlin! What an amazing experience. Very rich in history and we did our fair share of tours. We saw the memorial for the Jewish people. The topography of terror where the SS head quarters used to be. Saw some of the Berlin Wall with bomb marks and bullet holes still visible. We did a bunker tour which showed the rise and fall of Hitler and the SS, followed by a visit to the Berlin Wall memorial. Safe to say our brains are at capacity. We went for a wander to the Berlin gate only to find it covered in scaffolding!! It was still great to see and the singers out the front though which made for a great atmosphere. After a quick stop at check point Charlie we started our tour of some of the bars and found some cool spots with amazing cocktails and beers. Then our last stop was the Christmas markets…..and it snowed!!! We drank some proper hot chocolate made with warm milk and melted German chocolate and ate traditional Bratwurst and Crepes whilst enjoying the live performances. Finally we couldn’t resist the lime scooters…. It took the strain off our feet for a bit. We managed 20km on them all up over two days!!! Next stop.... Poland!!!
